Boulder Creek Falls on the Alakahi Stream in Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is lined with ferns and other tropical plants. It’s one of the quieter parts of the garden and a nice place to rest a while and enjoy the scenery. Mosquito repellent is advised.

We took that hike to Alakahi Falls. Beautiful! You should be on instagram with all your gorgeous photography!

Thanks for the compliment. Don’t know about Instagram – I have mixed feeling about them. I’m curious about your Alakahi Falls hike and how you accessed that. I thought it was only possible to get there by crossing private land. Last year, DNLR did a little sting operation along that trail and handed out a bunch of tickets for that.

Maybe I mean a different fall, on Hilo side. There was a person there taking admission. Yes, it was Akaka. Had to look it up 🙂 That photo looks similar!

I wondered if you meant Akaka Falls. I like that spot, a nice short walk and great views. Actually what I was thinking about when I posed that question was the falls above Waipio Valley, but that’s not Alakahi Falls. It’s Upper Hi’ilawe Falls.
