Btw, I just read about a tourist who fell into a volcano in your corner of the world!! (And survived)

The story was somewhat misleading. It makes it sound like the person fell into a pit of roiling lava and survived. For starters, there’s currently no volcanic activity anywhere on the island. What the guy did was step over a well-marked guard rail and the crumbly cliff edge gave way beneath him. He could have fallen 300 feet, but landed on a ledge 70 feet down. He survived because rescuers performed a tricky and dangerous rescue in the dark. The headline should read something more like, ‘Stupid man trespasses and falls off cliff, but survives to do something else dumb another day.’ This is why I’m not a newspaper editor!

I love your British snarkiness 🤣 Reminds me of someone else I know (also British). Anyway, that certainly is misleading. The headline could also have read “Wreckless tourist puts rescuers’ lives at risk” !

Yes, that’s a headline that could get a lot of use. Snarky! I haven’t heard that word in a long time, but it’s true!

Thanks. I took that on my morning commute. This is the time of year when I’m driving in at first light – very enjoyable.
