These are the same kind of trees surrounded by the same kind of ground cover and occupied by two of the same kind of horses. But, taken together, they make a one of a kind image that many people on the island would very quickly recognize as Waipi’o Valley.

Wow. They look happy and peaceful (like the fish did!)

They have a pretty good life, though an mystery illness has been going through their ranks. Not sure if the vets ever found out what it was.

Wildlife almost always see us first. They’re a good deal more alert than I am.

He was indeed. I was a bit concerned because these are wild horses, but he was just curious.

The horses are wild, which is something of an oddity on a relatively small island like this, but they live in a beautiful spot down in Waipio Valley.

Do they have any attention from humans?

Yes, but I’m not sure how much. Recently, the horses had some illness going through them and a couple of vets came in to try and find out what was going on. Not sure what the outcome was, but people definitely look out for their welfare.

oh no that’s not so good, but glad someone paid for the vets to come out

I think it was volunteer work for the vets. The horses are a little bit of an institution here.
