In Hawaii, snorkelers get to celebrate Christmas year-round thanks to the Christmas wrasse. I’m not sure why it got that name – it has others – but I suspect it has to do with its colorful appearance. Regardless, I’m sure it would like to join me in wishing everyone a happy Christmas.
A suitably decorative fish well-named for Christmas. Nice to be able to see it year round!

It’s fairly common, often seen swimming with much bigger parrotfishes to take advantage of any snacks they stir up.

Mele Kalikimaka to you too. Christmas was quiet here. Alas, we couldn’t go snorkeling as the water was too rough, so no Christmas wrasse sightings on the day.

Perhaps a new years day sighting??

I saw some today actually, but no doubt in the new year as well. With those colors, they’re easy to spot.

I hope you’re having a wonderful day. Sunny and warm here, but the ocean was too rough to swim this morning. Boo hoo.

Poor you!!! 😄 We had a fun day, tomorrow we might be getting sleet which is as close to snow as climate change will give us! So… yay?!

You don’t get snow? I think of it as being pretty snowy there in the winter.

This is the 2nd winter without snow in the Helsinki region (southern part of the country). It’s just rain all year round. Reminds me of Blade Runner!!!

I hope that’s the only similarity to Blade Runner. It would be a bit worrying otherwise.

We did get a couple of inches of snow Christmas evening. Sunny skies predicted for a few days.

A bit of a white Christmas then. One thing I liked about winter in Eastern Washington is that it might be cold and snowy, but at least the sun shines a lot. In Western Washington that definitely wasn’t the case.

That’s what I’m told, Graham! The snow melts rather quickly and they keep the roads clear. Good exercise today shoveling my BIL sidewalks 🙂
