This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘Fog and Clouds.’ See more responses here.
We don’t get a lot of fog here, but there’s no shortage of clouds. Here, clouds pile up as they hit the lower slopes of Mauna Kea.

Wonderfully Big clouds to go along with the Big Island! 🙂

No shortage of clouds here, but there’s plenty of sun to compensate.

Yes! My very first trip to Hawaii was to the Big Island and we landed in Hilo in wonderfully warm rain! I still remember walking on the street with the banyan trees enjoying the tropical rainfall.

Warm rain is a nice change for someone from Washington! When I go walking here I get rained on from time to time, but I don’t worry about it. Usually I’m dry by the time I get back to the car. I’m certainly not likely to get hypothermia.

That view over to Mauna Kea is great, sometimes dark and threatening, other times blue sky and a view for miles.

Looks ominous.

Looks more ominous than it is really. There’s usually rain from these clouds but nothing truly tempestuous.

That’s a breathtaking sight! My favourite moments are when the sun rolls across a landscape leaving cloud patterns, or you get that sudden break in the clouds 🙂 🙂

Sun and clouds are a winner every time in my book.

Graham, your photo looks similar to mine, but so much better! That landscape is quite stunning and not the image of Hawaii most folks expect.

There are a lot of different looks here that take people by surprise when they visit. It’s one of the things I like about the island.

I like big, billowy clouds. They put on a good show.
