Abutilon Red Tiger

I noticed these gorgeous flowers when I went to get my hair cut. Abutilon Red Tiger is a hybrid shrub that does well in Hawaii. it’s sometimes called Lantern Flower or Chinese Lantern, though that name is also used for other plants.

  It is, Jo. It’s a relatively small flower, but it has a lot of pop.

What an unusual flower. It looks almost like a hibiscus.

  I can see why you say that, but these are quite small, just two to three inches across. The hibiscus I know are much bigger.
