

Another post from things seen walking around home or work. In this case a pair of Java Sparrows at work and nesting in the roof above the office. I rarely saw Java Sparrows before this year, but now we have half a dozen or more nesting in the roof. Not that I’m complaining. They’re fun birds to watch.

I love the slider….made me smile. Are they introduced or native? Lovely looking birds. Have a finch like beak

They’re native to Indonesia and they are finches, hence the beak. Don’t know why they got the sparrow name.

They are fantastic, Graham. With beaks like that they must do some serious damage to something.

I guess it can be a pest in rice fields. Their diet consists mostly of grains and seeds.
