I rarely post for Clare’s Share Your Desktop challenge for the simple reason that I rarely change my desktop. But yesterday, I saw this Whitetip Reef Shark and thought the top image deserved a run on my computer screen.
My first sight of the shark was the second image. I suddenly saw this large shape gliding below me, having snuck up on me from behind! I’d been thinking it had been a long time since I’d seen a shark so I was thrilled to see this one, especially since the water was pretty clear and not too deep. I love the sinuous movement in this second photo! The shark disappeared under a ledge for a short time, but then reemerged and swam up a shallow cliff face and away over the reef, leaving me a very happy swimmer.

Clearly not an aggressive shark, judging by your reaction.

Reef sharks are more curious than dangerous.

It looks quite beautiful and I think it would make an excellent desktop, unless you wanted to get some work done.

Ah, but that the beauty of it. The work screens cover the image, but when I close them, then I get my reward!

Oh wow, Graham 😱 what an amazing shot – both in fact – and the very reason I usually stay out of the water. Although my husband tells me I’ve nothing to fear from reef sharks, I’m still afraid of them and any other sharks for that matter. Thank you so much for sharing these photos with me and, once again, joining in on the SYD fun.

Your husband is right on the reef sharks. They’re mostly just curious, though I’d be a bit more concerned if I was a spear fisherman towing a catch. We’ll see how long this desktop lasts, but I tend to leave mine up for ages!

It really was. I love seeing the reef sharks because I know they’re basically nothing to worry about!

It’s a great image, Graham. I might just be motivated to change my desktop, if I can remember how.

My last one was up for somewhere between six months and a year, which is the norm for me!
