This Peacock Grouper had scooted under a ledge when I swam by, but I waited and it poked its head out briefly, likely wondering if the coast was clear.

They have lovely markings, but they don’t stand out unless they catch the light right.

Mostly, they look a bit drab, but when they catch the light the spots are illuminated.
