I saw this school of Heller’s Barracudas yesterday, in a place where I’ve previously seen them, which is probably their regular daytime resting spot. It’s an area I don’t go to nearly as often as I used to, which probably explains why I haven’t seen any for a long time.

I’m with Kaz on that Graham. They don’t look like the fierce fish seen in old show

These aren’t bad. It’s the Great Barracudas that are more menacing looking (https://grahamsisland.com/2025/03/03/great-barracuda-2/).

The things you post when I’m away 😂 I wondered why I hadn’t seen this post before.
Yes, they do look a bit more worrisome

Barracudas used to give me the willies more than sharks, but I’ve survived this long without incident so I’m more relaxed about them now. They still have that look about them though!

As long as you are relaxed but not complacent

I don’t get complacent about anything in the water. It’s definitely not my natural environment.

From the old Heart song, I imagined them looking more menacing, with jaws overflowing with sharp teeth, but from this angle they look quite innocent.

These ones aren’t too formidable. Great Barracudas, however, are a different proposition. You can see the difference at https://grahamsisland.com/2025/03/03/great-barracuda-2/
