The Hawaiian alphabet consists of 13 letters and K is one of only eight consonants. This means there are a lot of words and a lot of flower names beginning with K, so it’s not so dreaded here for that!

That’s very interesting and explains why the names are often so long – reusing the same letters will do that! (Like humuhumunukunukuapua’a) (which is easy for me to remember because nuku means ”sleep” in Finnish and apua is ”help”… humu however means nothing, that would’ve been cool though!)
