The Lined Butterflyfish. It can reach 12 inches long in Hawaii. I posted one earlier this year here

I think they’re lovely. Tell me, do you take a picture and then look up what they are, or do you have a broad knowledge of fish?

I usually look up what they are after I process the photos. I knew these were butterflyfishes, but I needed to confirm which kind. When I see something I’m not familiar with, in the water or out, I try to get a photo so I can find out what it is, and these days it’s so much easier to do that.
