I spotted this baby mourning gecko one evening, just sitting on the stovetop. This is what I call ‘making an unwise decision.’ Fortunately for the gecko, the day’s cooking was done, otherwise it risked getting fried or flattened by a pan.
Baby geckos have a fairly high mortality rate from accidents and predation by larger geckos, but at the same time, there seems to be no shortage of them. I guess some kind of balance has been achieved.

ah sweet, I do love geckos!

Some people here hate having them in the house, but I rather like them. For a while, these little geckos seemed to have a competition going. They’d perch on a bit of trim near the couch and, when I was otherwise occupied, would jump off onto my head!

Hope it knows that is not the most sensible place to go!

Sadly not. They just seem to wander around until one of the larger geckos snaffles them up.

Indeed! If only he’d snack on the baby cockroaches like he’s supposed to.

Yeah, exactly! I haven’t seen one in my house since the winter. Hopefully, they will be back when it gets cold. 🙂

They’re inside and outside year round here, and a fairly reliable source of entertainment.
