Following of from yesterday’s possibly arty post, today I offer a photo of a Scrawled Filefish. Not only is this fish odd to look at, with its protruding mouth and very long tail fin, but it’s also covered in abstract scrawls which are quite beautiful when the light catches them right. It’s a moving abstract painting, but whereas well known abstract artists go for millions, Scrawled Filefish probably go for $3.99 a pound.

The blue scrawlings look almost luminescent

They are. I don’t see them as often as I used to but when they catch the light it’s worth the wait.

Wow. It makes me think of that phosphorescent glow people have spoken about seeing on the water. Have you seen that too? (Sadly, I haven’t been lucky)

I used to see that once in a while when I was out sailing. It’s quite beautiful.

I can only imagine what it was like. Maybe one day I will be fortunate.

wow, now that’s a great looking if somewhat odd fish. Dare I ask what it tastes like?!!

You can ask, but I don’t know. I don’t think it’s a prime food fish, being a lot of tail and head and very slender.

Ah that’s good then it can keep on swimming 🙂
