I’m happy to report that last week’s full moon was the final named supermoon of the year. These days, full moons remind me of the competitions where everyone goes home with a trophy; they’re all the best ever. This one was called the Beaver Moon for reasons that aren’t entirely clear. I looked closely at the photo, but couldn’t make out any large teeth or dams anywhere!

oh wow that’s a superb shot

Great Moon photo. You’ll have to ask a native American why they called it a beaver moon

I’ve seen the connection to the traditional names for full moons. I just don’t remember this being a big deal until the last few years. Now it seems like every full moon is touted as something super special which has never happened before.

The way of the spin doctors who wish to make out that the white man is empathetic to the ancient ones ways

Yes, something like that. Seems like the moon should have it’s own social media presence or something on TikTok. Perhaps it does.

Probably indicates the beginning or end of beaver season. Not having them here, I can’t even guess at which one.

Yes, I read about the beaver season connection. My peeve is why every full moon has to have some dramatic title. This seems like a fairly recent development.

Thanks. It was a simple, hand-held shot with my Lumix FZ300.

I can see a beaver in the darker part..It is curved and its tail is on top to the viewer’s right.
