I’m off to Honolulu for the day, so this seemed appropriate. I won’t be flying with UPS though. It would actually be more expensive to fly with them since they charge by weight and/or size! I’ll be on the other plane or one very much like it.

A camera and a rain jacket as Oahu was being lashed by rain, though not too bad while I was there.

Have a wonderful time away. We’re heading off, too, but we’ll drive, so only fuel costs for us.

It was just a day trip, but delayed flights to and fro, traffic delays in Honolulu, and heavy rain saturating Oahu with nothing on the other isles!

I think charging by weight is smart – enjoy your trip

It’s actually not a bad idea as weight is directly related to fuel consumption. Don’t see it happening with the airlines though, at least not currently.

yes, but with AI helping decide prices for customers ( I heard it was already being used in some ways to individualize fares according to passenger data) and maybe the weight variable will be considered

That’s a good point. It’s weird that you could have a full flight with no two people paying the same fare!

good point – I forgot there are always other variables – like the time of the booking etc

I’ve not heard of airlines charging by weight, Graham, but I can see how it might present problems. Have a great day! xx

UPS is a cargo airline so they charge by weight and/or size, but it would make sense for passengers too given the size of people these days.
