Koki’o ‘Ula’Ula is a native hibiscus which is rare in the wild, but available in nurseries. This one is a bit past its prime. I’ll have to go back to where I saw it at Kohanaiki to see if I can get a more robust bloom. Posted for Terri’s Flower Hour. See more responses here.

What a great star shape. I love it.

Despite a bit of withering, this hibiscus is beautiful, Graham. Beautiful texture and color!

I must go down there again to see if there are new blooms. At the time, I didn’t know this was one of the native hibiscus flowers.

I kind of like withering flowers. They’re still picturesque, just in a different way. This one looks like a starfish plotting its escape! Or maybe it’s just that I’m so used to seeing marine life photos from you!

I like a bit of withering too, but that’s just because I’m getting old!
