The black sand beach at Keawaiki is seldom crowded. There’s a half mile walk to ge there and there are no facilities of any kind. This weeds out a lot of people! The beach is quite steep and if there’s much surf, it’s not great for swimming. But on a day like this it’s a lovely spot. This marked the end of hike I did, which hopefully I will get posted soon.

It is a lovely looking place Graham. Maybe the sand is good for exfoliation on the feet

I haven’t noticed any exfoliation. I have a rasp for that!

It sure doesn’t look appealing, but I have lots of questions. Like, does it stain your feet?

It’s actually a pretty cool place. The sand is black lava pounded down to fine particles. Some can be a bit coarse, but some can be as fine as regular sand. And, no, it doesn’t stain your feet!

Those sound like good reasons to go there, Graham xx
