Makes them easy to identify. The curved beak is perfectly shaped for feeding at the native lobelias.

Hawaii is popular with birders. Quite a few species they’re not going to see elsewhere.

The advantage like Australia in being an island a long way from anywhere although we have the comings and goings interactions of migratory species with New Guinea. The worse ones are the Channel-billed Cuckoos and the Koels. Both talk in their sleep and lay their eggs in native bird nests

We get migratory birds too, though no bad ones that I know of. Also get birds blown in on storms, or hitching rides on boats, but they don’t get established here though they can bring disease. It’s the deliberately introduced species that are the problem.
