I’d rather be out exploring, which is how I found conclusive evidence of the existence of this previously unknown creature – half man, half bird. I bet it spends a good deal of its time going around in circles.

A building reflected in a building. This glass-fronted high rise in Honolulu made a wavy reflection of the building across the street.

Abstracts: Reflection
During my recent visit to Honolulu, I noticed this doorway in the historic Hawaiian Electric Building. In addition to the lovely old door and lights, I liked how the glass captured the reflections of people passing on my side of the street.
Abstracts: Drying mud
As a patch of mud dries, the surface cracks apart and the edges of these patches curl up, giving them something of a floral appearance.

Abstracts: Koi in Lily Lake
Lily Lake, in the grounds of Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, is a tranquil spot which I particularly enjoy for the reflections it provides. On my last visit, the koi in the lake made an appearance and added to the spectacle. As I moved back and forth, on the walkway alongside the lake, the koi followed, clearly hoping I was about to throw a little food their way.
