Else it just remembered with a degree of horror something a preying mantis should not have forgotten!

Also a possibility. I think this one might be about to lay eggs, judging from its behavior, but I have yet to see it doing so.

Well the prospect of egg laying would be enough to warrant the brow wiping. Whatever the reason, it is an intriguing photo.

Wow! Never been so close to a praying mantis to see him mopping his brow! 🙂

One good thing about them is that they stay where they are unless you get too close. So a slow and careful approach gets me quite close to them if I want.
