This Pacific golden plover seemed unimpressed by the surfers going back and forth in the bay behind it. Instead, it focused on tidying its plumage and making sure everything was in order.

Graham, your photos are consistently excellent, it’s always fascinating to check in for a looksee.

Thanks Bill. It’s fascinating to see what’s around on any given day. The other day the water was very murky, but I saw a flounder close to the entry ladder, so you never know. I haven’t seen you down there in a while. My main days are Wednesday and Thursday. Hope to see you soon.

They’re wintering here currently. In the spring they’ll start to acquire their summer plumage of black breast feathers, then take off for the long flight to Alaska and their summer breeding grounds.

Thanks. I liked the surfers going back and forth while the bird just carried on grooming.
