Here’s a praying mantis on a railing. Typically, I line up photos where horizons are horizontal and strong vertical lines are vertical. This photo’s an exception. I think the off-kilter lines complement the off-kilter appearance of the mantis, especially since this mantis had lost an eye and a leg, hence the title of this post.
I really like this photo. The off kilter lines work and your title is the cherry 😉

Thanks. I’d seen the missing eye of course, but it wasn’t until I was putting this post together that I noticed it was also a leg short. That’s when the title popped to mind.

Insects are so resilient, aren’t they? And some species can just regrow a tail or a leg as needs be. He seems to be surviving as a disabled mantis! Great catpture, Graham.

They certainly are. This one was around for a couple of days and seemed to be doing OK.

Poor thing but great click though.

Thanks. Apart from the injuries, it looked healthy and well fed, so I think it will be OK.
