

These small damselfishes are often seen, but less often noticed, if that makes sense. They gather around coral heads but are quick to disappear when approached. At some point I realized that I’d seen these fish often but didn’t actually know what they were. Now I do!
Lovely the way they appear to glow. I enjoy it when I my perception of something changes when I start noticing it more attentively – it is never the same again!

I’ve had that happen with birds and bugs too. I have that ‘Wow, what’s that?’ moment and when I look it up realize it’s quite common and I’ve probably seen it before hundreds of times. Helps remind me I should pay more attention!

Photos in the water are not unlike those on land. When the light is right, it makes a big difference.
