I took some images looking down on the flower when it was in bud, but I liked this one best. It has a kind of abstract quality.

I think it varies. They seem to last longer in more humid climates snd where they enjoy some shelter from the elements.

These flowers would tick those boxes then. That one stalk is still looking very good and two others are growing up to join it.
