
Macadamia nuts are big business in Hawaii, but the orchards themselves present a more pastoral scene. This orchard is rendered slightly less scenic by some dying trees, but that’s offset, to some extent, by the sheep.

Graham, my guess is that they were probably hired to do a job – mow the grass. It’s quite a pastoral, peaceful sight.

It’s not huge here, but it’s not insignificant either. There’s a mac nut plant down the road from here in Kawaihae.
