I took these photos one early morning at Kawaihae Harbor. I was experimenting with settings and came up with a couple of different looks of the same scene. Not sure which I like best. Any thoughts?

I also prefer the first one. Oh I hope the little adjustment wheel on the camera comes right or can be fixed.

The wheel can be replaced, but it’s a tricky process beyond my capabilities I think. There is a work around using the quick menu so I’m using that. It’s not bad, but a little more time consuming.

Glad to hear there is a work around at least.

Love the colours 🙂

Very nice! I keep going back & forth, but I think I like the first best! The second one is nice but the colors in the water are very powerful. Where the first seems balanced so you enjoy the whole image at once. But both are Great!

I think I like the first one best too, but I liked the different feel they give to the same scene.

Looks like a busy port

Yes and no. It’s the biggest port on the west side of the island, but deals mostly with the inter-island barges. Typically one or two come in in the morning, they spend the day unloading them, then loading with outgoing freight, and the barges leave in the late afternoon. Some days, it’s very quiet there.

My kind of port!

The first one evokes memories of seeing something similar, and I like it more because of that- It looks more real

I like that one too. As David noted below, the bottom one could use a little longer exposure.

The first one for the more detailed reflections. I think that the second one needs a longer exposure to completely blur the water.

I think you right about that. Longer exposures are the biggest weakness of my camera, the more so right now since the little wheel for quick adjustments is currently not working!

I may be a little biased as my typical long exposure is in the minutes these days.

Which my camera can’t do. It’s probably my biggest complaint about it, but otherwise it works really well for me.
