My final post in response to this month’s Becky’s Squares challenge theme of ‘Odd.’ See more responses here.
The stilts are odd enough in themselves, with their pink legs and long beaks, but it was the lighting in this image that got my attention. The sun was sinking and the shadows lengthening. But the distinctive lighting in this photo was due to the reflection from a cream-colored trailer parked beside the pond!
A beautiful shot and enhanced somewhat unexpectedly by the parked trailer!

Yes. I think maybe I should have also run a wider shot which showed how this square of light on the water differed from its surrounds. Oh well, next time!

Thanks, Jo. I take lots of photos and, when I sort through them, this was one that caught my eye as a keeper.

Thanks, Terri. Stilts are odd birds in their own right, but the lighting is also pleasingly odd!

I really like this. The golden colour, the reflections, and the harmony in the composition. One of them standing on one foot adds something

Thanks. I like this a lot, too. I really like stilts. They’re interesting birds, and photograph well. I liked the bird on one foot, too and I was happy to see the nice reflections among the foreground grasses.
