I saw this Southern Green Stink Bug nymph (Nezara viridula) climbing up a door and, since it was something I hadn’t seen before, I was keen to get a photo. With its distinctive markings, it was fairly easy to identify.
The bugs were first seen in Hawaii in 1961 and are considered something of pest.
That’s a new one to me!

Perhaps, but it’s the first I’ve seen in 10 years here so it might be a while.

It’s a pretty insect. I seem to recall seeing it in the tropics. Have you ever smelled it? According to Google, some people think it smells like cilantro, others say sulfur and ammonia or rancid meat, and some don’t smell it at all. That’s quite a range. I recall it being like #2.

I didn’t get a sniff of it, though now I wish I had!
