The idea of The Numbers Game is to enter a number into the search bar of your computer and then post a selection of the photos that turn up. The top photo was one of these and I thought, I must have run this before, but I hadn’t. It turned out to be a photo I’d processed, but neglected to move from my originals folder. Without The Numbers Game, I would never have found this!
This week’s number is 138. Captions are on the photos. You can see more responses here.

Your ocean shots and their inhabitants are fabulous, Graham. I’m glad for the challenge and to hear how other bloggers manage their photos/files.

Thanks Karen. I’m enjoying the challenge as it gets me posting a mix of photos that haven’t run and ones that weren’t seen by many people back in the early days.

It was keeping an eye on me, probably thinking ‘What a goofy looking creature!’

I always think crabs are a bit grotesque but I’m sure they think the same of me, Graham. That’s a great capture.

That crab!!!! It is like a piece of jewelry.. What a shot. Thanks for playing along again and providing such vibrantly colored photos, Graham. My stepson is on Maui but would like to move to Hilo but his wife is dubious. Would you recommend it?

Well, Hilo is a good deal different to Maui! It depends on what work they do, what they do in their off time, and how they want to live. HIlo gets 125″ of rainfall a year and is exposed to the trade winds. It’s fair for surfing, poor for snorkeling. It’s probably cheaper than Maui with more potential for buying a house. There are areas that are a bit sketchy, but also places that are home to long time Hawaiian families. In short, a mixed bag, but that could be said of most places. I live on the northern end of the island because I love to snorkel and hike, but it’s more expensive than Hilo, that’s for sure!
