A view from the post office in Hawi during one of those rainy days when even I feel sorry for bedraggled tourists splashing from one puddle to the next. Nobody comes to Hawaii for this.

I suppose we all have to take what we get and look for the heart of the place.

We can’t do anything about the weather so I always try to make the best of what comes along.

But the rain doesn’t usually last long!

Often it passes quickly. This was one of those days when it lingered.

Bummer! I remember it rained mostly at night in Hilo, very convenient. Except for the coqui chorus! I rather enjoyed it.

We have coquis up here now, though not too close yet.

On holidays you get what your given. I make the most of the weather when travelling.

There’s nothing one can do about it. Many years ago, I spent an August in Ireland. It rained constantly and, in all my photos, I’m wearing the wool sweaters I bought there!

Sorry for laughing but I know what you mean about having to buy warm clothes. I did the same in Scotland

After the airport in Honolulu, our first stop in Hawaii was on the Big Island, where we landed in heavy rain in Hilo. Welcome to Hawaii! But the air was warm and pleasant and the Banyan trees charming, so I didn’t mind that first introduction. Though I definitely prefer visiting without the rain!

I like a good downpour so long as the sun comes out again fairly quickly.

Come on, everyone needs some rain, some of the time

True enough, but on Hawaii vacations I think that’s low on the list.

I can imagine that they were not happy about the rain!

There is the slim consolation that at least it’s warm.
