

I spotted this Paphiopedilum Irish Forest ‘Hsinying’ orchid at Hawai’i Tropical Bioreserve & Garden. The flower got my attention, but then the bugs took it away. They’re sword-tailed crickets, specifically Nanixipha nahoa.

Fabulous flower and your cricket and grasshoppers have long antennae like mine

The orchid is stunning and the antennae on that Cricket are impressive.

Imagine having ears that were several times longer than your body! It would be tricky getting through doors.

Tiny crickets! I don’t suppose the orchid minds playing host.

I should think not. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the crickets, so don’t know whether they’re beneficial or not.
