This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘Leaf Peeping.’ See more responses here.
No color changes here, but lots of big leaves at Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden and elsewhere around the island.
Also posted for Becky’s Squares: Shadows. See more responses here.

I love this lushness, especially as where we are living now is entering summer aridity.

The tropical lushness contrasts sharply with dry and barren lava fields on this side of the island!

Oh I get it now. Thanks. So the lushness must be special for you too.

It is. I live on a dividing line between the two zones. Drive one way and it gets brown and arid. Go the other way and it gets greener and lush!

How unusual to be able to experience both in close proximity!

It’s kind of cool. I tell people thinking of moving here to consult the rainfall maps because a mile or two difference east or west, or up and down the mountain, can mean 10 to 20 inches rainfall a year difference!

Beautiful. I’m late to commenting…lol…seems to be my habit lately! I’m sure it takes an adjustment to not see fall colors. I remember visiting a botanical garden on Oahu in February thinking I’d see all sorts of things, forgetting that it was technically “winter” and not much in the garden was in bloom…haha

There’s something very alive about green. We’ve come home after being away for over a month at the end of spring and it’s like the day of the triffids outside. Helped, I must add, but unusually large rainfalls, but it’s such a preferred sight to dead grass and struggling foliage.

I hope there weren’t any actual triffids!

Fictional. Unless there were band members hiding there. Apparently it’s the name of a band.

I was thinking of an old sci-fi book ‘The Day of the Triffids’ and it dangerous ambulatory plants!

Ah yes, that was my reference, but I had to check they were really fictional after your question. From where I discovered the band.
