Are there many shipwrecks around the island, Graham? We have certain spots around our big island and some with victims in the hundreds.

I read a book about shipwrecks around this island and there were a lot of them. Where I used to live in England, they used to hang lights out on the coast, away from safe harbor, and lure ships onto the rock where they would steal the cargo and anything else worth taking.

These are such lovely photos…but I was saddened, not knowing the backstory.

Not too sad a story. The boat foundered on the reef here, but I don’t think lives were lost.
