Near the end of yesterday’s swim, I was greeted by this sight in the top photo. Spinner Dolphins coming my way. They were traveling at a leisurely pace as they dipped down and glided beneath me. After they passed, they came back up near the surface of the water and I thought they might loop around again, but instead they continued on their way.

Still, it was a lovely encounter, and my first with dolphins in quite a while. Swimmers are supposed to stay 50 yards away from dolphins because they might be sleeping even while they’re still swimming. However, when they pass by like this, there’s not much a swimmer can do, unless they have connections with someone on the Starship Enterprise!

Such a wonderful moment. Here, too, we have to keep a distance or face hefty fines, but those dolphins WILL come over to play, whether we’re throwing a ball or paddling the kayak. Just neighbourly, I guess.

Some people chase them, but I don’t see the point. They’ll outswim a human. I just hang out in the vicinity and if they come by, it’s a treat.

It’s always special seeing dolphins. These were very mellow.

They seemed it even could tell from the photos.

Sometimes they’re zipping around or leaping from the water, but not this bunch.

The first pic reminds me of a solo performance at the ballet!

I picked the headline because they looked like their movements were choreographed!
