It’s Halloween, and visitors to the island, here for blue skies and sunshine, must wonder what kind of scary place they’ve ended up in. We’ve had a system of tropical moisture funneling across the state for the past few days and it has been mostly gray skies and rain.

I was at Costco, having my car’s tires rotated, when the dreary weather unleashed one of its heavier downpours. Luckily, it eased up before my car was ready for me to go.

It looks pretty miserable, Graham. Hopefully all is restored to glory soon. Happy November! xx

Hello crazy weather world. Imagine the expense of a Hawaiian holiday and it raining for days. Glad you made it home safely

There have definitely been tourists who hit bad weeks of wind and rain, but that can happen to anyone anywhere. I once spent a month in England and Ireland and it rained the entire time. I wore a wool sweater and hat pretty much every day!

Looks like warmer rain than ours, though, judging by the flipflops! We had a proper Halloween moon last night, looming from behind gray clouds.

I imagine it is a warmer rain. I actually don’t mind getting wet here because I know I’m likely to dry out pretty quickly.

Been there, done that! Remembering a very wet Hilo trip in days gone by!

This kind of weather is to be expected on the Hilo side, but not so much on the west side.
