Today marks the start of the fourth year for this blog. Post number one was of a rainbow over the northern coast, so I thought I’d post another one on the anniversary.
This rainbow occurred just last week over the road leading up to Hawi. Hawi gets around 60 inches of rain a year. A few miles south, the rainfall drops off to less than 20 inches, and it’s usually dry and sunny there. One byproduct of this climatic contrast is that there are frequent rainbows.
This one occurred in the late afternoon as I was heading home and, even though I see a lot of rainbows, I felt moved to pull over and snap a few photos before heading up into the clouds and rain over Hawi.

I remember seeing so many rainbows in Hawaii. You captured them so well, the ones I’ve seen are quite camera-shy! Happy blogoversary – my blog will turn 4 in a bit over a month so we’ve been blogging almost the exact same time! 😊 Keep it up, looking forward to many more years of your great nature photography!

Lots of sun and lots of rain is good for rainbows. One thing I’ve noticed here is how low many of the rainbows are (not the ones in these photos). Don’t know why that is. Thanks for the kind words about the blog. While I keep enjoying it, I’ll keep doing it!

Come to think of it, we even caught a rainbow in a beach shower we used, showering in a rainbow! That was a low one 🤣
