This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘Pets and Playgrounds.’ See more responses here. I’ve gone for the playgrounds part of this since I don’t have pets, unless you count the rat in the attic!

As you might expect, I’ve managed to find seven photos with nary a single human at play in them. Most of the photos were taken at Kamehameha Park in Kapaau. However, I also stopped to take photos at a park in Waimea because I thought it was deserted, but I discovered there were a few kids with parents there. So I was careful lining up my photos. These days, an older guy taking photos in a kids’ park stands a good chance of being arrested or shot!

I’m a week late commenting but better late than never…those are awesome but sad no one was using them.

Well there were some people at both parks, but I deliberately excluded them. Older guys taking photos at kids’ parks can be a tricky business!

Love the angle you took for this. The swings and tunnel were favorites, and create add with the water. Well done.

Basketball shadow is my favourite. I do count your “pet upstairs” but you must respect your rats privacy, I understand.
As a coincidence, I wasn’t aware of Terris challenge, was photographing a playground but it was early and no one around. I took some photos. A couple of cars parked so I just went. I had things to do other than get arrested 😂😂

My pet upstairs needs evicting! Trouble is, it’s nigh on impossible to prevent him or her from coming in again. They squeeze through such small places.

What a great sequence, Graham! I especially love the diving board.

Thanks Jo. I think the local schools use the pool for competition.

My grandma was just saying today that she wouldn’t dare tell an unfamiliar kid how adorable they look for fear of being misunderstood!
I like the basketball shadow!

I was going to do all shadows, but the sun did not cooperate! I have a wildly inappropriate sense of humor so these days I have to be careful having conversations with anyone!

Everything is so inappropriate these days! Last year, I took part in a writing group where everyone else was 20-30 and very ”woke”. I’ve never felt so old and probably never will. One girl gave a disclaimer before reading her piece out loud, like it was a social media post with hashtags, happening live. ”This post contains the following triggers: …..” I was stunned. I mean, it was very considerate but it felt like a different planet.

What were the triggers? I’m not sure I even know what that means.

She wrote about domestic violence etc. So she listed words related to that, like we list tags and categories that relate to our blog posts. You know, in case hearing her fictional story caused anxiety in someone who’d experienced these things in real life! Triggers: domestic abuse, violence, rape, suicide, etc. I mean, it was a heavy topic, too, and I came there to relax because writing, to me, is a fun hobby and not therapy!

Oh yes, that is heavy. It would be awkward if you brought a story to share about a hippity-hop bunny rabbit!

I did, well something similar!!

Really great shots of the various playground scenes, Graham! These could be used for the park district’s summer brochure! Yes, I am also careful not to take pics of kids too close, no one wants to see strangers taking pics of their kids these days!

Thanks, Terri. As you know, I don’t take a lot of people photos, but I feel like I have to be careful to not even inadvertently include anyone. It’s a bit sad really.

I think adults are OK, as evidenced by other bloggers/photographers taking pics of people. Children (minors) are another story–IF I use a child’s photo, I get permission from the parent if possible, or get angles where you won’t see their faces.

Of course, you never know whether the adult is armed!
