The beach at Anaeho’omalu Bay is very popular. This was taken in the late afternoon when the crowds had thinned out.
This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer.’ See more responses here. Beach scenes seemed appropriate for this, even if some of these photos were taken in the winter! Captions on the photos.
Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park is also popular, but not many walk the length of it, so there are often empty stretches of sand.No wonder Hapuna beach often appears on lists of best beaches.Kohanaiki is popular with surfers, but the beach is good too, even if it is close to the airport. The beach in Kawaihae Harbor is popular with locals, especially on weekends. It’s a great spot for families with the water protected by a long breakwater.Another beach that’s popular with families is at Spencer Beach Park. Smooth sand, calm water, shade trees, and good facilities are the reasons why.
Your Big Island beach scenes are gorgeous, Graham! That last one of Spencer Beach looks idyllic! We really enjoyed Onekahakaha Beach in Hilo when we were there two different times. Just a short walk from our B&B–black sands and everything.
Thanks, Terri. Ironically, I hardly ever laze about on a beach. I’m usually hiking on them. I don’t think I’ve been to that beach in Hilo. I keep intending to go over there on a photography day trip, but haven’t had the time yet.
Beautiful. My daughter spent all of June in Hawaii, on Oahu and loved it. She even tried learning to surf.

I hope she enjoyed surfing. I’ve never tried and fear that, if I did, it would ruin my day and probably longer!

She did enjoy it. Didn’t really stay up, but had fun trying.

Beautiful. It makes me lonely for the beach!

We do less lounging now too. Although an afternoon watching the ocean, reading my book sounds kind of nice 😊 I am an explorer…

Oh Graham, it’s 5 degrees right now, feels like 2, and these photos almost make me weep.

I kind of miss the changing seasons, but I never get tired of wearing shorts and a light shirt every day. Just remember spring is around the corner!

And summer around the next one. Envious of shorts and T lifestyle, but I do like the change of seasons.

There’s a myriad of beaches here, big and small. I doubt if I’ll ever be able to visit all of them.
