This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘Fun with Photo Editing.’ See more responses here.
I don’t tend to monkey around with photos much, outside the usual cropping, and adjusting color and the like. Still, I had several ideas for this challenge, none of which I liked when push came to shove.
Instead, I settled for these photos, a day and night view of the excellent KO Pizza food truck. The truck operates two days a week in Hawi, but they’re in the process of opening a permanent location in town. Menu planning is about to get much easier!

I like your edit!

Wow!!! Well done!

Thanks. It’s a bit rudimentary, but since I rarely do this kind of thing, it was fun to try it!

That’s a striking edit! You’d think the night shot was the original one. Nicely done!

Thanks Debbie. It is the same shot!

A good edit Graham for someone who doesn’t monkey around 👍😀

Thanks Brian. I do monkey around, mostly making the sounds!

Love the ‘night’ shot, Graham. I almost never have pizza because the other half can’t eat cheese. Sigh!

Can’t eat cheese!!!! I basically live on dairy products.

I would too. My guilty pleasure!

Other than cropping and perhaps increasing the lighting I have never gotten into editing. Ah — food trucks. Now that’s a different subject!

I like food trucks too! I do a fair bit of basic editing on photos, but rarely spend as much time on it as I did for this one. It was fun though.

These contrasting shots of of the KO Pizza truck are quite amazing in the way you captured the light in the original day light shot, Graham. Do tell how you changed it into a night shot. Your editing really makes it look like the second image was taken at night!

I don’t do this kind of thing anymore so I was rusty. Basically, it involves separating areas on different layers, then treating those layers. So the sky got turned black, the trees and background were dimmed, and the foreground was left alone except for a bit of darkening around the edges. I finished everything, and then realized the window in the truck, on the left, was still untouched and an unnaturally bright yellow, so I had to adjust that too!

Ah, the layers, makes sense!
