I do like curlews, even their screams at night.

They scream at night? Yikes. I’ve only seen a few here and none of them screamed at me.

You hear them at dawn, dusk and approaching dawn. They sound like wailing babies, which is disconcerting the first few times you hear them. We get them in the tropics, so I’ve recently been reacquainted with them.

How curious. Now I kind of want to hear that, but not here I think. There aren’t many around.

Next time they’re in earshot, I’ll record it and post!

Go Curlew, sorry crab, it’s Grahams fault for a fabulous photo. An all round great collection. Cows can be so forceful and stupid

Thanks Brian. I know what you mean about cows, but I have a soft spot for them.

I love it on the odd occasions when I capture a bird succeeding in its hunt.

There are so many different colorations and patterns of Sphinx moth caterpillars!!! I have posted countless photos of them because they fascinate me. I can never figure out which is the front end and which is the back. Your variety is a new one for me.

Pretty sure the orange spike is on the back end on this one, but I know what you mean.
