I’ve always thought this would be a great place to see a flash flood, or at least a little to one side of here. This is a culvert through an embankment of the old Kohala railway. Most of the time, it’s dry as a bone, but when it rains a good deal of water would be funneled through this spot.
These days, round pipes, made of steel or heavy duty plastic, are often used for culverts. This square concrete one looks built to last.

What a lovely framed window to the other side! Hard to imagine the potential for flooding when it is dry, but that would be dramatic although not a camera angle to choose when its wet.

When there are floods, all that dry dirt gets washed into the ocean leaving the coastline brown.

It is picturesque, but I’m not sure about standing there while the waters rise.

Picture water flowing through there like a fire hose. That would be impressive.

Haha, and dangerous!

Like Becky, I’d admire the culvert but I’d rather be somewhere safe in a flash flood, Graham.

Well, thus far, whenever there are flash flood warnings, I’ve always been safe at home, so I guess I’m with you on this.

That is so cool. I like the full photo to show scare and yes, I’d watch water spurt from that

It’s one of those being in the right place at the right time situations!

Great for Geometric January but if it was me I’d need to be up on the top rather than just to one side if there was a flash flood!
