This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘Storm.’ See more responses here.
I’ve gone with a few different kinds of storms starting with a Great Frigatebird or ʻIwa, which is known in Hawaii as a storm bird as they are considered indicators of approaching storms. Below is a rain storm in North Kohala on the road to Upolu.

The next two are scenes at Kawaihae port when the winds are whipping. A dirt storm above and a sand storm below.

That is interesting about the bird. Enjoyed the photos. Uggh, I’d hate to be caught in a dust storm.

These dust storms were small, which is bad enough, but those in the southwest would be terrifying I think.

Freaky weather sometimes. Our windscreen wipers seem to have been going a lot lately, but the dust storm looks unpleasant. Great frigate shot, Graham xx

Sometimes, when I’m walking on the coast and the wind is really blowing, it feels like my legs are getting sandblasted!

Great shot of the frigate bird, who heralds the storms, Graham. Wow, the sand storms and the dirt storms must be a crazy sight. I’d hate to be stuck in one of those!

I think any storm is something to be avoided if possible, but they can make for some good photos.
