This week’s Sunday Stills challenge theme is ‘December Chill.’ (See more offerings here.)
Since I haven’t been to the chilly areas of the island recently, up on Mauna Kea or Mauna Loa, I’ve gone for a scene that at least looks chilly. Low, scudding clouds and high surf, driven by brisk trade winds make for a chilly scene, though the truth is I was almost certainly wearing shorts and a t-shirt when I took the photo.
What an incredible sea – so dramatic!

Yes, I like it when the surf is pounding – not too much though as I like calm waters for snorkeling.

Amazing photo, Graham! It does look chilly, but if you were wearing shorts at the time, it is a chilly illusion. When we visited Volcanoes NP, I wore a sweatshirt for part of the day, it was a smidge chilly!

I joke with people at work about how, when the temperature dips into the 60s, locals are bundled up in toasty jackets and hats. And we’re dealing with visitors from the Midwest who are about to return to minus 40 degree temperatures! It’s all relative.
