There’s nothing like spending some time on the beach at Kohanaiki Beach Park. Even when it’s busy it never seems crowded. All a person needs is a chair and a beach umbrella for shade and then you can sit back, relax, and read a book or watch surfers trying to catch a wave.

Oh, how lovely. Those colours are like a painting, soothing to look at

Thanks. It was a very pleasing scene. I love going down to that park. There’s always something interesting for me and it’s such a beautiful spot.

Sounds like my sort of day 🙂

I’m not a sit-on-the-beach person, but there are great walks on the coast here too. It’s become one of my favorite destinations here.

Sometimes you just have to sit and just drift away with the sounds of the waves and the breeze in the Pandanus or whatever coastal tree is on the fore dune 🙂

I can see the attraction. I just prefer to walk the coast, poke around in the tide pools, and see what’s going on.

That’s a given. The sitting for bit is just to have a rest and maybe an ice cream after adventuring the rock pools and hope you don’t get bitten or stung. Do you have Blue-ringed Octopus?

No blue-ringed octopus to my knowledge. I think your tide pool creatures are probably a good deal more dangerous than those in Hawaii!

Their distribution is the Pacific so maybe not as far west as you

Not according to my marine invertebrates book, though it does mention a blue-ringed octopus bite can kill a human!

Careful at the rock pools around here

Very cautious as a kid. There were lots of nites back then. They do look quite pretty so can see the attraction of wanting to touch or as “some” want to do, pick one up

So tempting to poke a finger at so many of these little ocean dwellers, but very bad things can happen so I’m very much a ‘look, but don’t touch’ person.

Well, our covid numbers are starting to become manageable again and vaccinations continue to climb so it might be OK this winter. I’m hoping so anyway!
