I spotted this mare and foal alongside Old Saddle Road and stopped to take photos. The foal wasn’t impressed and got to its feet in that ungainly way that foals do, still struggling to get control over those long limbs.
Once upright, the pair sauntered off out of range of my camera.

Aww, that is so precious!

Foals, like calves, are so cute at that age.

Such a young one. Not very old at all. Great photos 🙂

Yes, that middle photo says it all as far as how young it is.

I agree with Donna, that foal is days old! Good captures, Graham. Beautiful horses!

Thanks, Terri. I often see horses in this area, but this is the first foal I’ve seen there.

What a cute foal still needing to grow into its long legs – lovely photos conveying its gangliness.

I was glad to get the middle photo. It says a lot about the foal and the situation.

Oh the foal didn’t like the camera then!! And neither did the mare lol 😅
Lucky you anyway to have seen them this close. 🙂

I tried to be discrete and not disturb them, but the foal was pretty young so I guess it didn’t want anyone noticing it.

There are almost always horses in this pasture, but it’s the first time I’ve seen a foal there. When it was lying down I wasn’t sure how old it was, but once it stood I thought it couldn’t be too old.
