This week’s Sunday Stills Monthly Color Challenge is ‘Lava.’ See more responses here. I don’t often run photos I’ve posted before, but this seemed like an opportune instance to rerun some older photos that are perfect for this theme. I’ve put captions on the photos and a link to the original posts for those interested in checking them out.

Wow…those are amazing photos. especially taht top one. I love the bottom one though too..what a great picture of new life coming out of destruction. Great choices. Im catching up on comments since I was on vacation last week and Terri added my post for me..I still wanted to get around and visit everyone.

I think the topic was a softball Terri lobbed my way! The lava flow was a surreal experience. I’m really glad I went down there for it.

Do you think!!! Sometimes I am sure some prompters target their audience and people in particular. Mention nature and they know they’ll get a response from me 😂

I met Terri when she visited a few years back so she has experience on the island and she also knows what I do here. No doubt she knew I’d have plenty of lava options!

Graham, I knew you would have the lock on lava and its color challenge this week! How cool to share the pics with the links to their posts. We remember the 2018 eruption, it wasn’t long after we had visited Volcanoes NP. Between that and the fake missile scare that year, Hawaii was quite unreal. I just love that very first image showing lava exactly like I pictured it! Awesome job! I’ll have to google how much the BI has grown in the last few years with all this volcanic activity, but you probably already know that.

I think you chose this one for me! Much appreciated. 2018 was an eventful year here, that’s for sure. I think the Big Island gained well over 800 acres in that eruption.

Brilliant shots, Graham. I can imagine your excitement when you saw the topic and I’d feel pretty excited to see some of those sights. I can’t believe how close those people are to the lava. This post will have me look up some of the old ones, as well as researching Hawaii’s active volcanoes.

I think Terri came up with this with me in mind! That day with the people walking on the lava was surreal.

It goes from something that can kill you to something you can walk on in a very short space of time!
