Sunrise over Mauna Kea

Sunrise over Mauna Kea

The morning I first saw Mauna Loa’s latest eruption (here), the sunrise was equally spectacular.

The eruptions have never been a worry for me. I live at the northern tip of the island and it would take something unprecedented to be directly affected. People in the southeast part of the island are the most impacted, but those who live there know the risk, or certainly should do.

Yes indeed. The flow is about 1.5 miles from Saddle Road which is the main east-west artery on the island. However, it’s moving very slowly currently because the land there flattens out.
