Our big storm of a couple of weeks ago moved down from the northwest, from Kauai through Oahu and Maui to the Big Island. This view was taken one morning when the storm had enveloped Maui but not yet reached us. It wasn’t until late that same afternoon that the skies changed from blue to gray and black and the deluge began.
We had a cracker of a storm a few night ago. A crane and house got hit by lightning. I remember storms like this as a child but younger people have never seen an intense tropical thunderstorm with lightning strikes. Do you have many?

Thunder and lightning is unusual here. We probably get no more than one or two a year, though tropical downpours are more common.

That is interesting. I wonder why we have more storms than you guys? Must be something to do with the mountain range – for it is in the valleys to the west that most of the storms form.
