Thanks Becky. Until I saw it, I’d never thought about Mauna Kea casting a shadow like that.

Threadfin Jacks are a wow of a fish. Love the seal. He is thinking “Yes dear” 😂

I haven’t seen a juvenile threadfin jack in ages, which is a pity as they’re such a fun little fish to watch. He looked quite unimpressed. I think he was hoping she might enjoy a little fun!

They are really good! What are the deals chatting about? The leadfin? Looks like the outline of a small wooden boat. I can’t remember the name of the fish and can’t go back without losing my comment, so I’ll have to write it down next time.

The seals were chatting about mating I think. She was not as enthusiastic as the male on the right. However, I’e seen two of her offspring since then and I like to think that this male, Which I used to see a lot, fathered at lest one of them. The Threadfin Jack is thought to look this way for protection, by imitating a jellyfish. As adults they’re very large and blocky fish.

If you saw an adult, you wouldn’t recognize it. They’re big and blocky. Only the juveniles have the long tendrils, which are believed to create the impression they’re jellyfish. That’s what I thought when I first saw one.

Love that last one, Graham, and those seals look very talkative.

Well, she certainly had plenty to say. The other one, who I called Igor, looked distinctly unimpressed!
